Does anzscofinder give migration advice? The limits, answered

anzscofinder is an information tool, not a migration agent. Here are plain answers to the most common questions about what we do and don't do.

We get these questions a lot. Here are plain answers about what anzscofinder does, what it does not do, and where to go when you need more.

Does anzscofinder give migration advice?

No. We are an information tool, not a migration agent. We show you ANZSCO codes, list memberships, and shortage ratings, each linked to its official source. We do not tell you which visa to apply for, whether you will qualify, or what to do next. For advice about your own situation, talk to a registered migration agent.

Can you tell me if I will qualify for a visa?

No. A code match is a starting point, not a visa outcome. Whether you qualify depends on your qualifications, work history, skills assessment, and a number of other factors that a migration agent reviews. We surface the facts about a code: its skill level, list membership, and shortage rating. The rest is for a professional to assess.

Can you tell me which ANZSCO code is correct for me?

We can show you candidates and confidence scores. The CV matcher maps your CV to its closest codes, with a 0 to 100 confidence score and a plain-English explanation of the match, based on your titles, duties, and skills. It returns information, not a ruling. If you are unsure between two close codes, a migration agent or your assessing authority can confirm the right one.

Does being on a list mean my occupation is in shortage?

Not necessarily. List membership and shortage rating are two different things. Being on the Core Skills Occupation List (CSOL) opens a pathway for the Skills in Demand visa Core Skills stream. The 2025 Occupation Shortage List is a separate, point-in-time rating by Jobs and Skills Australia, released December 2025. An occupation can be on the CSOL and still be rated No Shortage, and ratings change between annual editions.

Is the data on anzscofinder current and reliable?

We source every fact from the official Australian and New Zealand government pages: the ABS, the Department of Home Affairs, Jobs and Skills Australia, and Immigration New Zealand. Each fact on a code page carries an as-of date and a link back to its source. Lists and thresholds change, so we always show the date and tell you to confirm on the official source before you rely on anything. The methodology page describes exactly how we source and update the data.

Is anzscofinder really free? The code search and occupation pages have no limit and need no account. There is no upsell and no paywall on the information.

Still not sure which code is yours? You can search the codes yourself, and if you would rather not guess, the matcher at app.anzscofinder.com will map your CV to its closest codes. Information only, with a source and date on every fact.
