Two tools on this site do different jobs. These are the questions we hear most often about how they work.
How does the ANZSCO code finder work?
The finder lets you browse all 1,076 ANZSCO 2022 occupations by name, group, or keyword. Each occupation page shows the code, skill level, list memberships (CSOL, Green List), and shortage rating, each linked to its official source. The data comes from the ABS, Home Affairs, and Immigration NZ, as stated on our methodology page.
How does the CV matcher work?
Upload your CV at app.anzscofinder.com. The matcher reads your roles, duties, and skills, then compares them against all 1,076 ANZSCO 2022 occupation descriptions. It returns the top 5 closest codes with a 0 to 100 confidence score, a plain-English explanation, and sourced facts for each match, as described on the methodology page.
What does the confidence score mean?
The score reflects how closely your CV aligns with an occupation’s official description across five dimensions: title, duties, skill level, seniority, and credentials. A score of 90 means strong alignment across all five. A low score means the match is weak on one or more dimensions. It is a signal, not a guarantee. For a definitive assessment, a registered migration agent or skills-assessment authority is the right step.
Is anzscofinder really free? The code finder and all occupation pages have no login requirement and no limit. There is no hidden paywall or upgrade pressure. The current pricing is as stated on the anzscofinder home page.
Where does the data on each occupation page come from?
Each page pulls from the ABS (the ANZSCO 2022 classification), the Department of Home Affairs (occupation lists and visa subclasses), and Jobs and Skills Australia (shortage ratings). Every fact carries an as-of date and a link back to its source. Lists and thresholds change, so check the official source before relying on any figure.
Can anzscofinder tell me which visa to apply for?
No. We show codes and list memberships. We do not give migration advice, and we cannot tell you whether you will qualify for any visa or assessment. For that, speak to a registered migration agent.
Still not sure which code is yours? You can search the codes yourself, and if you would rather not guess, the CV matcher will map your CV to its closest codes. Information only, with a source and date on every fact.
